Cold wave continues to prevail in North India

New Delhi, Jan 23: North India shivered under intense cold wave conditions on Wednesday as freezing temperatures grip the region.

In the national capital, the minimum temperature dipping to 2.6 degree Celsius, Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded 3.8 degrees. Some areas in Punjab registered a minimum temperature of zero degrees Celsius. Adampur reeled under piercing cold as mercury dropped to minus 3.6 degrees Celsius. Kashmir valley continues to reel under cold wave conditions for the last few days with mercury dipping to sub-zero temperature during last night.

The weather forecast says rain or snow is likely to occur at few places in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh.

However, National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) said that western disturbance is expected to affect the Himalayan region and adjoining plains in another 24 hours and due to this night temperatures are likely to increase during next two-three days.
