Christians to protest against attacks
Puducherry, Jan 23 (UNI) Christians in Puducherry would take out a massive procession and submit a memorandum to Lt Governor Mukut Mithi tomorrow, to protest the alleged attack on people of the community in Orissa.
Addressing a press conference here today, Chief Priest of the Puducherry and Cuddalore Arch Diocese Fr Anthonisamy said all Christian schools would also remain closed.
Arch Bishop of Puducherry and Cuddalore Antony Anandarayar would inaugurate the procession on the Anthonyar Church premises. The procession would pass through the main thoroughfares and reach the ''Rajnivas'', where a memorandum would be submitted to the Lt Governor.
The agitation aims at exerting pressure on the Centre to take steps to put and end to such attacks, he said. Nine people were killed, and Christian institutions and churches were ransacked and burnt down in the recent past.
