BJP seeks expunging of ''derogatory words'' from NCERT book
New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) The BJP today renewed its demand for removal of some ''derogatory words'' written against an associate of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in a Class XI history book, published by the NCERT.
Addressing the second Netaji Subhash Commemorative Lecture here, former Union Minister and BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad referred to page 165 of the 2005 edition of Modern History, an NCERT book for Class XI students, where Netaji's associate Ras Bihari Bose has been described as ''a terrorist revolutionary''.
''I am ashamed to see this. It is a shame and need to be changed,'' he said.
Mr Prasad said he had earlier raised the demand in Parliament as well. ''But nothing has been done so far.'' UNI AG BDP RK1823
