ULFA leader, businessman killed in Assam
Guwahati, Jan 22 (UNI) A self-styled ULFA leader and another suspected criminal were killed in separate encounters in Assam today.
ULFA leader Rupak Moran of the outfit's main strike force '28th battalion' was killed by security forces in an encounter near Raidang, under Digboi police station, in Tinsukia district.
One pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from him.
Meanwhile, in the other incident, a police team, led by Superintendent of Police (operations) Jitmal Doley, shot dead a businessman Naba Saikia at Madhupur near Biswanath Chariali in Sonitpur district.
Police claimed that one 9 mm pistol and four live ammunitions were recovered from him.
However, local people alleged that the deceased was innocent and was killed as a result of police conspiracy.
They also gheraoed the police station and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy commissioner in this regard.
