The
Saudi
Government
has
made
it
clear
that
it
did
not
provide
any
security
to
former
Prime
Minister
Nawaz
Sharif
in
Pakistan.
It further pointed for that matter "neither the government of Pakistan nor any individual including Nawaz Sharif has asked Saudi Arabia to provide security." Saudi Embassy in Islamabad was commenting on news item appearing in a section of the press which stated that Saudi Arabia was providing security to Sharif in Pakistan on his return.
The clarification has come in the wake of media speculation that the Saudi Government has been providing special security to Nawaz Sharif. This has generated controversy in Pakistan.
The embassy said in its release "Saudi Arabia would do everything possible to extend its total and unflinching support, and it has full confidence in the expertise and ability of the Pakistan Government to look after these matters."
The press release stated that whenever called upon, Saudi Arabia would stand with the leadership, the government and the people of Pakistan as a true and time-tested friend and brother, The News reported.
