MPC president T Sailo for setting up Mizo battalion

Aizawl, Jan 22 (UNI) Mizoram People's Conference (MPC) president Brig (Rtd) T Sailo has urged Defence Minister A K Antony to set up a Mizo battalion.

During his visit to New Delhi recently, Mr Sailo, former Mizoram Chief Minister and retired Brigadier in the first Assam Rifles, told the Defence Minister that a Mizo battalion would generate employment for thousands of unemployed Mizo youths.

Besides, it would also strengthen the feeling of nationalism among the Mizo youths, he stated.

''The Mizos are brave people and had fought valiantly in the World Wars I and II and earned good reputation. A number of Mizo jawans received bravery awards,'' he told the Minister.
