Hereditary to be major critarion in chosing Headaman
Chandigarh, Jan 22 (UNI) Haryana Government today decided that in all cases of appointment of a Headman (Lambardar), priority would be given to his hereditary claim and familiarity.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to review all issues concerning the appointment of the Headman, here today.
Mr Hooda said that the State Government was aware of the significant role being played by Headmen in collection of revenue.
Therefore, in case any vacancy of the Headman in future, the appointment would be made on the basis of hereditary claim and familiarity with the work of Headman.
The Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue, Dharamvir said that at present there were more than 22,000 Headmen in the State.
