Expat woman held for 'DWW' in Saudi

Dubai, Jan 22: Driving in itself can be an offence in Saudi Arabia, if you are a woman.

A woman was arrested in the Kingdom for the offence termed there as DWW-- Driving While being a Woman. The daily Okaz reported yesterday that a foreign woman whose nationality was not disclosed was stopped for being at the wheel. She told the police that she was in Saudi Arabia for a few years and feared that she will forget how to drive unless she practised driving.

She was released after giving promise that she would never drive again in the country.
