Child rights body to hold public hearing in Chennai

New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights will be holding a public hearing on corporal punishment, torture, sexual abuse and neglect of children in schools and hostels tomorrow in Chennai.

Complaints of torture, molestation, other forms of degrading treatment, injuries by children themselves and their parents and in cases where death caused to students will be heard during the hearing, said a Commission statement said.

The Chairperson of the NCPCR will head the jury panel.

The hearing is being held on an appeal from a coalition of 20 NGOs in Tamil Nadu.
