Will try for airport transfer to MIHAN in 3 months: Patel
Nagpur, Jan 21 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel tonight said he would personally pursue the matter to ensure that the city airport was transferred to the ambitious Multi-Modal International Air Passenger and Cargo Hub at Nagpur (MIHAN) within three months.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Patel said he would try to get all the formalities for the transfer completed in that period.
''It was due to my efforts that the proposal came before the Union Cabinet last week and the transfer was approved in principle,'' he said.
''I am not opposed to development, but as a minister in the Union Cabinet, it is my duty to examine all aspects of the project,'' Mr Patel said.
The city airport is to be handed over to a joint venture company, with equity participation from the Maharashtra government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), for being developed as part of MIHAN.
