UP Cong chief seeks stay on arrest in multi-cr land scam case

Allahabad, Jan 21 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Rita Bahuguna Joshi today filed a petition before the Allahabad High Court, seeking stay on her arrest in connection with a multi-crore land scam.

Ms Joshi also sought quashing of an FIR lodged against her at Civil Lines police station in Allahabad.

On January 16, a complaint against Ms Joshi and others was registered at the Civil Lines police station under the Prevention of Corruption Act of IPC.

The complainant Shiv Babu Gupta, the president of Brashtachar Unmulan Samiti, in his complaint, had alleged that the UPCC chief had committed a criminal act by misusing her office and indulging in illegal means in the matter related with Fatehpur Bichwa multi-crore land scam under George Town police station here.
