Take steps to prevent spread of bird flu in Pondy: AIADMK

Puducherry, Jan 21 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of AIADMK today urged the administration to take all precautionary measures to prevent spread of bird flu in Union Territory.

A party release here said a resolution was adopted at the party meeting, urging the administration to check all the vehicles entering Puducherry from other states, including West Bengal.

The meeting also urged the administration to hold talks with those demanding separate union territory status for Karaikal region.

Alleging that the wrong agricultural policy of the government had affected the agriculture sector in the union territory, the meeting urged the administration to take immediate steps to provide the announced additional price for paddy.

The meeting also urged the government to take steps to provide medical treatment at the government general hospital for patients from other states.

The meeting also decided to celebrate the 60th birthday of party supremo J Jayalalitha in a fitting manner.
