Orders issued to prevent abandoning of fetuses in UT
Chandigarh, Jan 21 (UNI) In view of the recovery of certain fetuses and infants from garbage in several cities, the Chandigarh Administration today issued an order to prevent such occurrences in the union territory.
Under the order, issued by Home Secretary Krishna Mohan, all pregnant women will be motivated to get themselves registered with the nearest health centre/hospital.
All ANMs/LHVs/Doctors attending to the pregnant women should maintain their record and keep a track of their pregnancy till delivery and bring to the notice of appropriate authority in case of abortion.
All ultrasound centres/ clinics/ hospitals shall strictly adhere to the provisions of the PNDT/ MTP Act.
The police will inform the appropriate authority about the incident of any fetus/infant found abandoned which would be got tested for DNA test in order to correlate with the women at a later stage, if found suspicious of having aborted.
