Kerala to present Vote on Account
Kozhikode, Jan 21 (UNI) The Kerala Government will present a Vote on Account for three months instead of a full-fledged budget, State Finance Minister T M Thomas Issac said today.
Talking to reporters after a pre-budget meeting with traders representatives here, he said the Government was not prepared to present a full fledged budget in view of the ongoing organisational meeting of the CPI(M) and the CPI, the two major parties in the coalition Government.
However, he said the Vote on Account from April to June 2008 would entail all proposals, including taxation.
The date of the presentation of the Vote on Account would be decided by the State Secretariat.
Mr Issac said the Government was also in the process of reimposing entry tax in the State. A proposal in this regard had already been submitted to the President, he added.
He said the Government had decided to strengthen the PDS in the state.
