BOPEE employees trying to help four get admission landes in jail
Srinagar, Jan 21 (UNI) Three employees of Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) and two agents were arrested in Kashmir for trying to help people get admission in professional colleges.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch (CB), Kashmir, said a complaint was received from controller BOPEE that some candidates in connivance with three officials had tampered with the answer sheets to increase their merit in 2007 Common Entrance Test (CET).
He said during the re-totaling and re-evaluation it was found that four candidates, indentified as Mytree Koul, Pakaeeza Ahmad, Farzana Iqbal and Arshad Gul Babar Dar, with the help of with some BOPEE officials, have tampered with the records.
He also said a case under an FIR was registered in police station CB Kashmir. During investigation, it came to surface that Mohd Ashraf Sofi, Sunil Bhat and Farooq Ahmad through touts tried to get answer scripts of CET 2007 solved by making forgery and insertions for getting seat in MBBS for Rs 12 lakhs each.
The investigation unearthed that these aspirants before approaching the CET had conspired with these employees through touts thereby had submitted their answer scripts almost un-attempted in order to get them attempted at the time of revaluation and re-totaling.
As per the plan, they were to agitate the matter before competent authority and in case of being unsuccessful to take the matter to court to get their seats in MBBS course.
He said after unearthing the scandal the kingpin Sajjad Budal was arrested earlier by CB and released on bail under court orders.
The other accused, including employees of BOPEE were arrested along with one of the touts namely Reyaz Ahmad, he said adding the investigation of the case is in progress and more arrests are expected.
