New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Responding to the call of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) for a day-long strike on January 25, Bank of Baroda (BoB) today said it will take all necessary steps for smooth functioning of its branches and offices.
BoB was the first bank to issue a statement of the steps it will take to ensure that the bank keeps its operations going.
The Bank, in a statement, said that it has been informed by the Indian Banks' Association of UFBU having served a notice of a nationwide strike on January 25, 2008.
''The bank is taking all the necessary steps in terms of the existing guidelines for smooth functioning of Bank's branches/offices to deal with the strike in the event the same materializes on January 25, 2008,'' the statement said.
UBFU, which is an umbrella organisation of nine unions of workmen and officers, has given a call for strike on certain key demands.
These include consolidations and mergers in the banking industry, outsourcing by public sector banks and a better deal for the employees.
