Tripura: Poll officials to get ballot through post

The
Election
Commission
today
asked
the
Tripura
election
panel
to
issue
ballot
papers
to
the
officials
engaged
in
the
polling
duties
through
registered
post
with
acknowledgement.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr G S G Ayyanger here said the commission directed the state election department not to manually hand over the ballot papers to officials engaged in polling duties.
Ballot papers would be given to the officials through registered post with acknowledgement and it would be sent back the same way.
Earlier, the election department issued the ballot papers to the officials directly.
About 70,000 postal ballot papers would be provided to all the officials and employees engaged in poll-related duties, Mr Ayyanger said, adding that the postal department would be requested to deliver all the postal ballot papers to the officials.
He informed that all the polling stations would be well connected through wireless for faster dissemination of election-related information.
Besides, each government guest house would have computer with Internet facilities, landline telephone with STD facilities and fax machines.
