IUML plea to Centre on Sethu project, Minority Quota
Puducherry, Jan 20 (UNI) The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) today urged the Centre to ensure implementation of the Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project (SSCP) and reservation for minorities.
Talking to newspersons here, Tamil Nadu IUML president Khader Moideen also urged the Centre to implement the recommendations of the Sachar Committee and Justice Mishra Committee.
He claimed implementation of the SSCP would benefit 18 minor ports between Puducherry and Colachel and the prospects of reviving the business links with other Asian countries would be brighter.
Demanding the BJP shed it's 'anti-Muslim policy,' Mr Moideen said that by opposing reservation for minorities, the party had proved it was against the minorities.
To celebrate 60 years of its formation, the IUML would hold its State Conference in Vellore on March 9. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had been invited for the occasion.
