15 hospitalised with anthrax symptoms
Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 19 (UNI) About 25 rams were reported dead due to anthrax and as many as 15 persons admitted to a Primary Health Centre (PHC) with symptoms of Anthrax at Karvetinagaram mandal in this district today.
Sources said about 25 rams of a private rearing farm, run by retired officials of animal husbandry department at Jandapeta village, died 20 days back due to anthrax.
The outbreak of the deadly disease came to light only when some villagers, who consumed the meat of the dead rams, were admitted to the PHC with symptoms of the disease.
The district administration had issued an alert and instructed the people not to consume meat of the dead rams.
