LTTE threat to Mayor to pay ransom
Coimbatore, Jan 18 (UNI) Tirupur Mayor K Selvaraj today lodged a complaint with the police saying the LTTE threatened to kill him if he did not pay Rs one crore to the banned organisation.
In his complaint with the police, Mayor Selvaraj said he received three phone calls from London on his mobile phone this morning.
The caller allegedly threatened to kill him if he did not pay up Rs one crore to the LTTE.
He said each time a different person spoke to him with the ransom demand. The callers claimed he had property worth Rs 400 crore and hence should pay Rs one crore, police said.
Following this, police have provided security to the Mayor. Further investigation is on, police added.
