Interstate highways to be reconstructed
Guna, MP, Jan 18 (UNI) Two dilapidated highways, linking Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, will be reconstructed by the Centre at a cost of Rs 25 crore.
''The Anrath Post-Sirsi-Nihaldevi-Bishanbada-Anarad and Bhaunra-Meenapura Bamori-Bishanbada highways -- a total stretch of 80 km -- will be reconstructed,'' Union Minister of State for Surface Transport K H Muniappa said while addressing a meeting here yesterday during the inauguration ceremony of the Guna bypass road.
Pointing out that a mega project -- for providing high quality to the country's highways -- would be over by 2012, he added that under it 17 national highways passing Madhya Pradesh -- a total stretch of about 4,500 km -- would be modernised.
''Four-laning will take place over a highway stretch of 1,500 km in this state,'' the minister added.
