Initiative to take modern medical facilities to villagers
Karur, Tamil Nadu, Jan 18 (UNI) In a bid to make modern medical facilities available to people at the remote villages, the Karur District Public Health authorities have provided two mobile medical units to Kadavur and Krishnarayapuram blocks of the district, under the National Rural Health Mission.
According to Health Department sources here, each unit comprised a medical officer, a nurse, an assistant and a driver. The unit would halt at two places in the block every day.
They had also drawn up tour programmes, the dates of which would be conveyed through public address system and posters to the respective villagers. Gradually, all the blocks in the district would be provided with the facility, the sources said.
The units would be equipped with blood pressure apparatus, rapid kits for blood, urine and pregnancy tests, intravenous lines, stretchers and first-aid kits besides drugs.
The programme was also aimed at providing follow-up medical checkup and better antenatal care, the sources added.
