Goa CM Kamath's allegations are baseless: BJP
New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) The BJP today described as ''totally baseless'' Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat's charge that the party was to blame for the fresh political crisis in the state.
''It is the NCP Ministers who have withdrawn their support to the government. How come the BJP is responsible for it? The allegation is baseless and far from the truth,'' senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said.
Mrs Swaraj said in fact, the Chief Minister had failed to keep his 'flock' together and was now accusing the BJP for his own failure.
To a query, she said the BJP was ''waiting and watching the situation'' and would take its decision accordingly.
She, however, conceded that the BJP would support any effort to bring down the Kamat Government, which is ''unconstitutional''.
She also charged Goa Assembly Speaker Pratap Sinh Rane and Governor S C Jamir with having taken unconstitutional decisions of adjourning the House sine-die without passing the Appropriation Bill and the Supplementary Grants, and then the Governor proroguing it.
In fact, they had become party to save the Kamat Government, which should have been asked to prove the majority on the floor of the House, she alleged.
