Five top business executive injured in helicopter crash

Mysore, Jan 18 (UNI) Automotive Axles Managing Director Babu M Kalayani and two other Directors as well as the two-member crew had a miraculous escape when the helicopter in which they were traveling crash landed at the helipad of Infosys on the outskirts of he city today.

Police said that the helicopter belonging to Deccan Airways carrying five people including the crew Col Nehal and technician Devender Sharma arrived from Bangalore this morning but crash landed when the pilot found some fault in the landing gear.

Dropping from a height of 30 feet the copter rolled over for three rounds injuring Mr Kalyani and Directors Rakesh Sachchdev and Lori Dohan. However injuries were minor and they were out of danger, police officials said.

Miraculously the pilot and the technician escaped unhurt.

Injured have been shifted to a private hospital for treatment.

According to eye witnesses, smoke was noticed in the helicopter after the mishap. However, it did not catch fire, even as the injured were taken out safely. BEML fire engine was rushed to spot to meet the emergency, acted swiftly to avert any major incident.

The Automotive Axles executives were here to attend the company's board meeting at the factory premises.

There was heated exchanges between the police and the executives of the Automotive Axles when the latter refused to allow police to conduct investigation. It was only after DCP Balakrishna arrived, the situation came under control.

The helicopter was badly damaged and loss was yet to be estimated.
