Indians celebrate harvest festivals

Tiruchirapalli, Varanasi, Guwahati, Haridwar, Jan 15, 2008 : Harvest festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm across India which is a predominantly agrarian country. These festivals are known by different names all over the country.

In Tamil Nadu people celebrated harvest festival Pongal on the 15th of January to mark the dedication of hard working farmers, Pongal is also the first festival in the Hindu calendar year.
