WB: Maoists trigger blast near Jindal site

Salboni, Jan 17: Suspected Maoists today triggered a blast near the proposed Jindal Steel Factory project site in Mirga Bit under Salboni police station area in Bengal.

The blast occurred at the Forest beat office. District Magistrate N S Nigam said the blast occurred at around 1330 hours. ''It might be the handiwork of Maoists who planted a powerful landmine in the forest office,'' he said. However, no one was injured, he added. Mr Nigam said some Maoist posters were found near the blast site.

The entire area had been cordoned off. Incidentally, the ultra outfit had been opposing setting up of the factory.
