FCI wheat samples to be analysed in MP
Bhopal, Jan 17 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today directed collection of imported wheat samples from every Food Corporation of India (FCI) depot in the state, official sources said.
Principal Secretary (Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection) M K Rai asked the Commissioner (Food) and the Managing Director, State Civil Supplies Corporation, to ensure that the collection was completed today and added that the samples be analysed in independent laboratories.
Departmental and field officers, district supply controllers, district supply officers, assistant district supply officers and FCI district offices were directed to submit compliance reports by evening.
Protesting against supply of ''substandard'' red wheat under the Public Distribution System to Madhya Pradesh's denizens, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the Centre to supply good quality wheat.
''Higher support price should be fixed for farmers and wheat allotment enhanced for Above Poverty Line families,'' he said in a letter to the Union Agriculture Minister.
During a sudden inspection of the FCI's godown by Chhola Road here, the chief minister recently took stock of wheat and rice samples.
