Communal tension in MP town
Dhar (MP), Jan 17 (UNI) Communal tension gripped Dharampuri town and adjoining Kalibawadi village in Dhar district in western Madhya Pradesh following a fracas over parking of vehicles, police said today.
Following tension between two communities, the shops remained closed in Dharampuri town yesterday, while seven kiosks were set on fire by a mob in adjoining Kalibawadi village this morning. The blaze was later controlled by locals.
Additional Superintendent of Police Virendra Singh told UNI that following heavy deployment of police the situation was brought under control. Thirteen people belonging to both communities were arrested, he said.
Tension arose following a dispute between a bus driver and another person over parking of vehicles. A futile bid was made yesterday to restore normalcy through police mediation.
