Commission Agents to observe Punjab bandh on Jan 19
Fatehgarh Sahib, Jan 17 (UNI) At least 45,000 'Arthiyas' (commission agents) associated with Punjab Federation of Arthiya will observe a state-wide bandh on January 19 to protest against the decision of Punjab government to make direct payment through cheques to the farmers.
State president of the Federation Ravinder Cheema today informed mediapersons here that the commission agents would observe a complete bandh on Saturday and would organise Arthiya-Kissan Sammelan at Moga.
He claimed that not only commission agents but farmers, who would need to operate a bank account and keep records, were also against the state government's recent decision and will present their view point on this issue before Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and others.
He said that B.K.U (Rajewal) and other farmers' organisations will also participate in the agitation.
