WB: Agitators disrupt train movement for hours

Hooghly, Jan 17: More than 300 commuters today blocked the Howrah-Bardhaman section under the Howrah division of Eastern Railway protesting the alleged irregular services.

Dankuni station manager Narayan Das said the 2302 down Rajdhani Express, proceeding from New Delhi to Howrah, was delayed for over two hours, besides several other local train services being affected.

The agitators also attacked the station manager's office and damaged the properties. However, the railway authorities denied the allegations.

Later, a huge police contingent arrived from the Dankuni police station and dispersed the crowd. Train services in the Howrah division could only be resumed after 1200 hours, officials said.
