Work on Narmada water project progressing on fast pace
Bhopal, Jan 16 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Commercial Tax Minister Babulal Gaur today said the work on the Narmada Drinking Water Scheme for the state capital is progressing on a fast pace.
Expressing hope that the demand for Narmada water by Bhopal denizens would be fulfilled soon, Mr Gaur told reporters here that the project was given administrative sanction on February 18, 2005.
Under the scheme, construction of pump house and 600 metre-long approach bridge besides work on 1,400 metre-radius raw water pumping and 195 MLD water treatment plant was progressing.
He said the matter of diversion of forest land was being sent to the regional office of the Union Forest and Environment Ministry following decision of the Supreme Court and recommendation by the state government. Formal approval of diversion was awaited.
Mr Gaur also mentioned about several developmental works carried out in his assembly constituency Govindpura.
