Pak EC not to postpone polls in any constituency
Islamabad, Jan 16 (UNI) General elections will not be postponed in any constituency due to law and order situation, Pakistan Election Commission has said.
''Election Commission has not decided to postpone elections in any constituency in the country due to law and order situation,'' the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Secretary of the Commission Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad as saying yesterday.
Brushing aside any threat to holding of polls in constituencies falling under the category of so-called 'sensitive areas', he said by the grace of 'Allah', elections would be held throughout the country on February 18 except those vacancies where any of the contesting candidates has expired.
He said barring one National Assembly constituency and three provincial assembly constituencies, polls would be held across the country on the set date.
He added that fresh proceedings for these four constituencies would commence after election schedule for them will be announced by the Election Commission, in due course of time and in due process of law.
