Mayawati expells BSP strong man B Gopal in K'taka
Bangalore, Jan 16 (UNI) In a surprise move Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati today expelled former state unit president and strong man of BSP in Karnataka B Gopal for 'anti party activities'.
Rajya Sabha member and party incharge Veer Singh said that Mr Gopal had been expelled on the instructions by Ms Mayawati.
Mr Gopal had been responsible for building the party over the years in the state and was its long time state President.
BSP made a notable presence in the 2004 elections. Though it took less than two per cent of votes, it was enough to wreck the chances of the Congress party.
Reacting to the party move, Mr Gopal expressed surprise and said he had not committed anything that necessitated his expulsion.
"I cannot join any other party. I believe in Ambedkar and Basavanna and I believed only in BSP," he said.
