Kashmir highway, closed yet again due to snowfall
Srinagar, Jan 16 (UNI) Kashmir valley was cut off yet again after the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed for traffic this afternoon due to heavy snowfall.
A traffic police official told UNI that the highway has been closed following fresh snowfall at Jawahar tunnel and Banihal sectors.
The Chief Engineer Beacon A K Bhutani told UNI that more than 250 workers and about 40 sophisticated machines have been pressed into service to clear the snowfall on the highway.
He said traffic from both sides have been stopped.
official sources said hundreds of vehicles including those carrying passengers and essential commodities were stranded on the highway.
