Jaipur man claims to have permanent cure for diabetes

Jaipur, Jan 16: A Jaipur-based man has developed and patented an ayurvedic medicine from the 'Kadamb' tree, which he claims could cure Type II diabetes. The Controller General of Patents, Govt of India, has granted Suresh Sharma a patent besides an international classification number given to him by the WTO.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Sharma said there are two kinds of quinoline alkaloids in the tree, namely hydrocinchonine and cadambine. Dydydrocinchonine regulates the production of endogenous insulin and cadambine removes the insensitivity of insulin receptors which are situated on our adipose tissues of muscles.

He claimed that the medicine cures Type II diabetes which has become an epidemic today. According to Mr Sharma, medicines available in the market are mainly responsible for the flare up in the cause of the genetic disorder while this medicine removes the cause and also cures it.

He said 'Kadamb' is a sacred tree of the country as it is related to Lord Krishna. Mr Sharma also claimed to have filed a patent for another drug which is also based on one of the mild alkoid dyhydrocinchonines of this tree.

He said talks were in progress with pharmaceutical companies for commercial production of the medicine.
