Idols of Durga and Krishna seized from Indo-Nepal border

Siliguri, Jan 16 (UNI) Customs officials has recovered two blackstone idols of Goddess Durga and Lord Krishna, worth Rs 25 lakhs in the international market last night, police said today.

Police said the 34-Kg Durga idol belonged to the 10th century while the 28-Kg Krishna idol was of the 11th century.

Sources said the antique and rare idols were being smuggled out to Nepal when the Panitanki customs officials seized them.

However, no arrests had been made.
