Highways Ministry to implement 'e-payment' from April
Bangalore, Jan 16 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways K H Muniyappa today said the Ministry would implement 'e-payment' from April in the country to do away with age-old cheque system.
Inaugurating an Electronic Payment System (EPS) for the southern states here, he said the EPS would solve the delays faced by all the agencies involved in road construction.
Under the new system, the bills would be cleared within 24 hours once the Regional Pay and Accounts Office in the city receive the bills.
The Ministry had decided to take up infrastructure projects under the National Highways Development Programme--Phase VII in the state, he said adding that under this programme it proposed to build a 116-km-long ring road to the city.
