Govt sets Mar 31 deadline for implementing KVIC schemes

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) The Government has set March 31, 2008 as the deadline for the implementation of various schemes under the the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).

This was announced by Medium Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) Minister Mahabir Prasad while presiding over the Second Meeting of the National Khadi and Village Industries Board today.

Mr Prasad said he expected full cooperation from the Finance Ministry, the Planning Commission and banks in this regard.

He said the Government was making special efforts to develop the khadi sector in the 11th Plan.

Earlier, KVIC Chairperson Kumud Joshi said that KVIC could not sustain by merely selling ideas and ideals and that it was high time to take a hard look at the marketing strategy.

She said there was a tremendous demand for e-charkhas in the country.
