Govt ready for talks with NSS, Church: Achuthanandan
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 16 (UNI) Terming as 'baseless' the charges of undue interference in the functioning of educational institutions run by social organisations, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the government was ready for talks with Nair Service Society (NSS) and Church to clear their doubts in this regard.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the government had not interfered in the administrative matters of the educational institutions run by these organisations.
Denying the allegations that the government was going ahead with proposals to change the schools timings and curriculum and entrust the teachers appointment in aided schools with the Public Service Commission (PSC), he said no such decisions were taken so far.
Though the government had invited both the Church and the NSS for talks twice, they failed to turn up.
Even after informing that the government was ready for talks, they had not given a positive reply, he said.
To a question, he said the government could not carry out any reforms in the education sector without any proper debate though the LDF had mentioned reforms in the election manifesto.
