Cong councillor surrender in kidnapping case
Jalandhar, Jan 16 (UNI) A Congress councillor, among four people, allegedly accused in a kidnapping case surrendered before the police here this evening.
Talking to mediapersons, DIG Narinder Pal Singh said Congress Councillor Sukhmeet Singh, alias Deputy, and his accomplices Gurinder Singh, Jasbir Singh and Jitender Singh surrendered before him at his office.
The accused were involved in a kidnapping of a real-estate developer Subhash Kumar's son Micky, he enformed, adding the accused took Rs one crore as ransom to release the victim.
The DIG said four other people, identified as Prabhjit Singh, Manga, Harpreet Singh and Harpal Singh, also involved in the kidnapping, would soon be arrested. The ransom money paid and a home-made pistol used in the kidnapping would also be recovered soon, he added.
''Working in a scientific manner, we cracked the case in a very short period and forced the accused to surrender,'' he said.
