BSP expels former Karnataka unit president
Bangalore, Jan 16 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati today expelled former Karnataka unit President B Gopal for 'anti-party activities'.
Rajya Sabha member and party state incharge Veer Singh said Mr Gopal had been expelled on the 'instructions' of Ms Mayawati.
Mr Gopal had been responsible for building the party over the years in the state and was its long-time state unit President.
BSP had made a notable presence in the 2004 elections. Though it secured less than two per cent of votes, it was enough to wreck the chances of the Congress.
Reacting to the party move, Mr Gopal expressed surprise and said he had not committed anything that 'necessitated' his expulsion.
''I cannot join any other party. I believe in Ambedkar and Basavanna and I believed only in the BSP,'' he said.
