All India bank strike on Jan 25, Feb 25, 26

Kochi, Jan 16: The United Forum of Bank Unions today called for a nation-wide strike on January 25, February 25 and 26 to press their demands, including scrapping the policy to merge public sector banks and stopping outsourcing of normal banking jobs and services.

Talking to reporters here, Forum Convener V J John said around ten lakh employees and officers of both public and private sector banks, would participate in the strike. He said the Forum, comprising nine unions, would also go on an indefinite strike from the last week of March, if the government did not meet the Union's demands.

Besides the merger and outsourcing issues, the Forum demanded option to join the pension scheme, restoration of compassionate appointments in banks, filling up of vacancies by recruitments and early settlement of wage revision.
