64 pc of wheat distributed in Thane unfit for consumption: BJP

Thane, Jan 16 (UNI) Thane district BJP has alleged that as much as 64 per cent of the wheat, that has been distributed through fair price shops in the district, are unfit for human consumption.

This is as per the food testing laboratory's report, BJP leaders claimed while speaking to reporters here today. Among the BJP leaders were Kirit Somaiyya, Jagannath Patil, Sanjay Kelkar, and Ramnath Mothe.

The BJP leaders claimed that 55 samples of wheat were drawn from various godowns in the district and tested. The reports from the laboratory indicated that 35 of the samples were unfit for human consumption.

They said a total of 35,000 tonnes of wheat are distributed through fair price shops in the entire state and 3,000 tonnes are distributed in Thane district.
