Two LeT militants killed in Doda encounters

Jammu, Jan 15: Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were gunned down in separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, police said today.

The SSP Doda, Manohar Singh told the sources that acting on a tip off, a joint team of 8 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the local police launched a search operation at Shonsh and Banshal areas in the district yesterday, wherein they waylaid the militants.

''Both the dreaded LeT militants were killed (one at each site of encounter) in that gunbattle,'' he added.

The slain militants were identified as Nasir Ahmed Lone alias Abu Sofian, who was active since 2002 and was placed under 'B' catagory, while the other was Mohammad Yaseen Mir, who had joined the outfit last year, the SSP informed.
