Reliance makes another gas discovery in Krishna Basin
New Delhi, Jan 15 (UNI) Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries has announced yet another gas discovery in Krishna offshore basin in the east coast of India.
A company spokesperson said this is the third gas discovery in exploratory block KG-OSN-2001/1 (KG-III-5).
RIL's first discovery from which gas is expected to flow in the middle of this year, was in the deepwater block of Krishna-Godavri basin off Kakinada coast in Andhra Pradesh, while this latest discovery is in the shallow water of Krishna Basin.
RIL is the sole operator of the 1100 sq. kms block which was awarded to it during third round of NELP bidding.
Christened Dhirubhai 38, RIL said it has notified the discovery to the government and upstream regulator - the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons(DGH).
The discovery in well KG-III-05-J1, drilled at a water depth of 151 metres and to a total depth of 2820 metres, substantiates the hydrocarbon potential in this block,. RIL said in a statement.
