Army ready to thwart cross-border 'evil designs'
Chennai, Jan 15 (UNI) GOC-in-C, Southern Command, Lt Gen Nobel Thamburaj today expressed concern about 'some elements' taking advantage of the political situation in Pakistan, and said the army was well-equipped to thwart the designs of 'evil elements'.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of 'Army Day' investiture ceremony here, Lt Gen Thamburaj said ''the Army has to be prepared and extra cautious 'as some elements may take advantage of the political situation in Pakistan.'' ''The Army is prepared and we have taken all precautionary measures,'' he said.
Earlier, Lt Gen Thamburaj gave away gallantry awards to 42 officer,-- one posthumously at the Officers' Training Academy at St Thomas Mount.
