Shiv Shankar Mukherjee to be next High Commissioner to UK
New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) Mr Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, currently Ambassador to Nepal, has been appointed High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
He will replace the current incumbent Kamalesh Sharma who was elected Secretary General of the Commonwealth during the recent Commonwealth Heads of Government Meet (CHOGM) at Kampala in Uganda in November 2007.
Mr Mukherjee is expected to take up his assignment shortly, the External Affairs Ministry announced here today.
Mr Kamalesh Sharma is scheduled to take over as head of the 53-nation grouping in April.
