RSBY to be implemented in Yamunanagar from April 1
Chandigarh, Jan 14 (UNI) The Rasthriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY), to be implemented in Yamunanagar district from April 1 for the Below Poverty Line Families, would provide health insurance, life and accident insurance, maternity benefits and old-age pension among other benefits.
Labour Welfare Director General Anil Swaroop, who visited Yamunanagar ESI hospital, along with the deputy commissioner Nitin Yadav and director ESI (Health) Dr DP Saharan said the scheme would also be implemented in Gurgoan, Faridabad and Panipat districts of the state as pilot projects.
ESI has been designated as the mother agency to implement the scheme. The scheme has been mooted under the Unorganised Sector Workers Social Security Bill, 2007.
Talking about the scheme the Deputy commissioner said that under the scheme, families living below poverty line (BPL) would be covered and the Central government would contribute 75 per cent of the premium amount for the next five years.
The scheme envisages issuance of a smart card to the beneficiary. Under the current scheme, the total sum insured would be Rs 30,000 per family per annum.
