Police release sketch of British tourist's suspected rapist
Panaji, Jan 14 (UNI) Police have launched a manhunt for a youth, who allegedly raped a British tourist, on the basis of a sketch that was circulated among all police stations across the country today.
The foreigner was offered a lift on a motorcycle and taken to a remote place where she was sexually abused on the night of January 11.
Releasing a copy of the sketch to mediapersons here, Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik regretted that a section of the electronic media had ''sensationalised'' the incident and tarnished the image of Goa as a tourist destination.
The police were also trying to trace the origin of some of the websites promoting Goa as a hub for sex tourism.
Meanwhile, Director General of police B S Brar said night patrolling had been intensified and vigil kept on suspicious people to check the crime.
