Jet may start flights through Shanghai as soon as next month

Beijing, Jan 14 (UNI) Jet Airways may start flight operations to Chicago and other US destinations via Shanghai, if granted permission, as soon as next month.

Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal told newspersons at the India-China Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation Summit here today that, if granted permission, flights may start as early as next month.

If the proposal is cleared Jet would become the first non-Chinese airlines to use China as a transit.

Meanwhile, India has decided to grant permission to Chinese cargo air planes to land both at Chennai and Mumbai.
